I’m a freelance journalist with more than 20 years’ reporting, writing and editing experience. I have a particular focus on politics, business and justice, but other areas of interest include pensions, housing, equal pay and the arts.
I started out as a trainee reporter on weekly newspaper the Turriff Advertiser and, after completing a diploma course at the London School of Journalism, spent over a decade writing and editing for trade publications Investment Week and The Lawyer. From 2016 to 2020 I worked for Scottish daily newspaper The Herald, reporting for the business and legal pages and also writing a weekly opinion column. As of August 2021 I have been a staff writer at Holyrood.
As a freelancer I have contributed to a variety of publications including Holyrood, IBA Global Insight, Inside Housing, Legal Business, Scottish Housing News, Scottish Legal News, The Ferret, The Herald, The Herald on Sunday, The Sunday Post, The Times and WIRED.
